Fixing the Apple Mighty Mouse Track Ball

I have two Mighty Mouse's and both the track ball in the center stopped working after a few months of use. I tried a few ways to clean them up but, no joy. So I decided to go ahead and crack the Mouse open and clean it manually.

The process is relatively simple, one just have to be patient and careful handling it. There are a lot of tutorials out there on how to do it, but essentially with a little common sense you can take it apart fairly quick and put it back together.

If I get the request I will post a step by step tutorial.

have you tried to push the ball fairly hard and then rotating it? it worked on one mighty mouse I've had my hands on, although it only worked for a small time (1-2 weeks)

Yes, I tried doing that with the same results you had. Also tried rubbing it against my jeans and it also worked just for a few weeks.

That when I decided to open it up. There are 4 small wheels that rotate when you use the ball they got really dirty so they don't roll anymore at some point.

Essentially is the same problem mouses had before they came out with the laser tech.
